The conditions of the home become rough and sad, specifically when a child gets bitten by your loved furry friend. The entire family is shocked by the behavior of the furry dog. Normally, the dog is well-behaved to the kids and family. Even the dog lets the kid use him as the sofa. Still, this occurred.

No one can understand why the loved and trusted furry friend suddenly bit an innocent kid. A dog specialist or a person who understands the body language of any dog will consider this problem from the dog’s viewpoint. Hence, he may not be shocked by such examples.

  • If you go via this biting attack deeply, or simply, you find the meaningful reason for this biting. It is the rude behavior of the kid towards the dog, which the family members failed to catch or have ignored. They thought the rudeness of the kid was cuteness towards the dog.
  • It is because the dog didn’t react to it mainly. The dog was accepting this nuisance act by their kid. But when the tolerance tipping issue gets crossed, the dog act like this. Many of us consistently take the company of the dog for granted.

Remember that if your child is acting this way with you, it may happen that you may also blast yourself in anger. So, why blame the furry dog?

The reason behind the trouble

Understanding the trigger that supports the dog to respond is very easy. We can understand it from our daily practice. For example, we don’t like any disruption in mealtime even though they are our children. You have to know that dogs deserve a peaceful meal.

  • As we teach our children not to steal anybody’s stuff such as toys, likable materials, etc. Thus, likewise, we should guide our little ones not to rob the dog’s plaything. Also, you should provide some training to the canine to leave the toy against some treat.
  • Kids often seem to your face all of a sudden to shock you. In the case of the dog, you should instruct him to keep a secure distance from the dog. Doing such an act by the kids over the face of the dog makes him feel uncomfortable though the dog is our part of the family.
  • We must provide our furry dog with a peaceful and undisturbed place to sleep and rest and guide our child not to disturb. Kids should be trained not to disturb the dog while it is sleeping. Abuse of pet dogs by the kids is the main reason they get bitten by the furry dogs.

Precautions that must be taken at home

Body language

Dogs can’t express themselves verbally like us. It is important to learn or understand their body language. It sends us the message about their emotional status. Normally, child mixes up with the dog in absence of their parents. So, it is important to guide them.

  • Let them understand the body language of the furry dog. Never try to rob their goods even they don’t use them. If the kid understands the signs of irritation of the dog, it helps them keep a space from bad things happening.
  • The signs contain ear turn in the backward direction, lips licking, staining and striding around, yawning, showing their teeth aggressively and barking loudly, becoming ductile, and cowering. If any of these signs appear, guide your child to leave or keep a safe distance.

Little kids majorly scream, hug and kiss the dog. Sometimes, these actions make the dog upset and stressed. In this situation, they act defensively. More suitable to keep the little child far from the dog because smaller children are unaware of the boundary and signs of the dog. When an experienced older kid learns how to behave around the dog, it makes a safe surrounding for both. Keep an eye on the condition. Quick steps require to be taken if any such sign appears. If you ignore such signs, it can get escalated to a more threatening condition.

How to move towards a dog?

Always ask the owner before going towards the dog. Let the dog come and smell you. Put a gentle touch on the chest, not on the head. Never put your hand forwards in direction of the dog. They view it as threatening. If a dog approaches your kid, it will be most useful to keep calm and keep a closed hand to the body. Allow the dog to sense and pass by.

Introduction of the dog in the home for first time

Make sure the dog is right for your family, specifically for kids. Some dogs are fitted for kids. Some are not so right. Try to understand your children to know the body language of the dog. In the case of a newborn, make one new timetable for your dog. Maintain it from the first day. Keep the initial intro between dog and kid quick and do it when the kid is calm. Regular interaction will familiarize the dog with the kids. If still, it doesn’t work, consult a vet or dog behaviorist.
